Summary:

In this article, I go over how I redesigned a landing page for a nonprofit aiming to teach coding to youths. Code Your Dreams, a 501(c)(3) organization based in Chicago, Illinois, and the client of this redesign.

There are generally three types of people who consume news and journalism.

1. People who are glued to it.

2. People who avoid it as much as possible.

3. People who could care less.

I fall into the first category. These days, no matter which type we fall under, we can probably all agree on one thing — the news sucks. How can we make it better? Open source audio might be something to keep in mind for the future.

Open source audio allows the user to share audio recordings over the internet. You can listen to stories, record stories of your own, and access content that could ideally be used for academic and scholarly purposes. Open source audio is akin to a podcast mixed with Google Earth, with a hint of something more unique. To put this into further context, I decided to develop a potential mobile application for a website that uses such a tool. The possible use in journalism, news, and academia is part of the foundation of my research, persona building, and prototyping around this study.
